DoodleWOrms:Preschool ArT Enrichment

Welcome to DoodleWorms — an art class thoughtfully designed for preschool children! Each week, we’ll read one of our favorite books and use its themes to explore art mediums like painting, printmaking, sculpture and collage. These creative techniques not only inspire imagination but also strengthen fine motor skills essential for developing independence, school readiness, and cognitive growth in tasks like writing, self-care, and manipulating small objects. In a warm, supportive setting, they’ll practice sharing, taking turns, and building new friendships. DoodleWorms is the perfect blend of fine art and literacy—we can’t wait for you to join us!

Children are natural storytellers, and in DoodleWorms, we bring their creativity to life through the connection of literature and art. Each week features a different story and art project!

A Day in the Life of a DoodleWorm

1. Warm Welcome & Settling In

As our DoodleWorms arrive, they’re welcomed with warm smiles and an open invitation to create—either adding to a collaborative wall mural or exploring drawing materials at the table. This gentle start eases transitions and helps build early friendships.

2. Story Circle TIME

Gathering in a cozy circle on the rug, we sing a hello song and read a thoughtfully chosen book that inspires our lesson for the day. We pause to ask questions, make connections, and let our imaginations wander.

3. Art Exploration

Inspired by the book of the day, we begin our art-making! Each week introduces a new technique—drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, or collage—designed to strengthen fine motor skills while allowing your child to express their ideas and share their stories in a playful, sensory-rich way. Every piece is signed by the artist and given a title that is recorded on the back by a teacher. This simple act honors their creativity and reinforces their identity as artists. They learn that their ideas have value and that their artistic voice matters—while also giving you a window into their thought process!

4. Sharing & Reflecting

After creating, we take a some time to admire each other’s work. Some children eagerly share what they made, while others quietly observe—both are celebrated!

5. Clean-Up & Goodbye

We practice independence by having the children help tidy up the studio, then close with a short goodbye song or movement activity. DoodleWorms leave feeling happy and proud—ready for their next creative adventure!
